Today’s Solutions: December 14, 2024

It’s no secret that public awareness about plastic pollution and global warming has been on the rise recently, but have people actually started embracing the green cause and doing their bit about these dire challenges? Well, data analytics firm Kantar may have recently found the answer.

The company conducted a poll across 24 countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, in which 65,000 people were asked to give their views on the environment. According to the survey, around a third of the respondents are worried about the environment, with 16 percent stating they are making an active effort to reduce any impact they may have on it.

What’s more, Kantar noted “small reductions” in the amount of money being spent on products such as meat, bottled drinks and beauty wipes. The survey also found that consumers in western Europe are the most likely to strive to reduce their impact on the environment, while Chileans are the most environmentally-conscious people in the world, with 37 percent of those surveyed trying to make changes in their lives.

The findings show that, as humanity’s devastating environmental footprint becomes impossible to dismiss, the world is steadily waking up to the reality of the situation and their own sense of responsibility to do something about it.
