Today’s Solutions: April 28, 2024

There are plenty ambitious renewable energy projects and studies. But this new one by Stanford University is particularly interesting as it’s about the 8th largest economy in the world—California—becoming totally clean energy based 35 years from now. The study, published in Energy, concludes that producing all of California’s power needs with renewable sources is possible by 2050, and that it can even be done in state, which would also create thousands of jobs. The researchers found that a switch to instate renewable energy sources would cost more money upfront, but would pay for itself in the long run and generate $12 billion in annual revenue from the jobs it creates. Also, a switch to clean power would reduce deaths caused by air pollution by about 12,500 per year.
