Today’s Solutions: February 03, 2026

The Amazon Soy Moratorium is an agreement signed in 2006 between major soybean traders saying that they wouldn’t purchase soy grown on parts of the deforested Amazon. According to a new study the soy moratorium has been very effective and has greatly reduced the amount of deforestation caused by soy production, additionally it does more than government policies alone. The study found that farmers were 5 times more likely to violate government policies than the Soy Moratorium, which is why it is of utmost importance to extend the moratorium past its 2016 expiration date. You can help by contacting retailers and manufacturers, and of course only buying soy sourced from non-deforested land.
