Amsterdam’s city center is always crowded with tourists and traffic, but that may all change in the coming years. Architecture firm HofmanDujardin recently unveiled a new project that will decentralize the area and repurpose routes currently used solely by cars into green, pedestrian-friendly spaces. The innovative plan connects the northern district with the rest of the city in order to restore Amsterdam’s historic connection to the water while opening up the waterfront. Along with new green spaces, the plan also includes spaces for urban farming and newer, smarter transportation systems.
