Roads can be used to capture solar energy. There are many initiatives in that direction including solar roadwaysWattway, solar bike paths and Pavegen. A Budapest startup joins these projects with a very practical approach. The company has developed a modular, self-contained paving panel that harvests the sun’s energy to produce electricity. The panels have recently been rolled out in front of a shopping mall, at a harbor and integrated into outdoor seating allowing pedestrians to charge their phones while they pass through the city.
