A collection of East African nations are working together to curb the economically and environmentally harmful practice of illegal fishing. To do this, the eight nations have begun to share data on vessels that may be fishing with forged licenses or that have already been caught fishing illegally. By sharing all this information, country authorities can work better to monitor and control fisheries operating in the Indian Ocean.
