Central government inspectors started re-examining thousands of violations uncovered during the nationwide environmental audit last year and found that many of the problems had yet to be properly resolved. As a result, 4,305 officials are being held accountable with fines and possible jail time, showing that if you don’t live up to environmental standards in modern China, there will be major consequences.
