When it comes to plant-based or vegan clothing, people tend to think it’s all overpriced. That’s not so surprising considering brands like Bhava in Italy are selling vegan lace-up shoes at $149, which doesn’t make the wallet all too happy. But more and more vegan brands are popping up that are exploring new means of producing clothing sustainably, and it’s helping to drag down the price of animal-free clothing. One brand by the name of Kanabis is producing shoes similar to the Bhava ones mentioned above using hemp canvas. The price? A mere 40 bucks. Another reason to believe we’re on the verge of a vegan fashion revolution is that cruelty-free clothing is receiving a lot of star endorsements at the moment. Miley Cyrus, Anne Hathaway, Emma Watson and Serena Williams have all promoted vegan clothing while big brands like Adidas and Gucci have released vegan product lines. Just a few years ago there was barely a mention of vegan clothing. To see it growing so rapidly is a welcoming sight for environmentalists.
