Today’s Solutions: January 29, 2026

As the world is looking for new viable solutions to prevent catastrophic climate change, a new effort to rally governments and corporations behind technologies that capture planet heating gases from the atmosphere has been launched at the United Nations on Tuesday.

It was the first annual Global Climate Restoration Forum, and it marked the official launch of the Coalition for Climate Restoration, which is bringing together governments, civil society, private sector, and environmental organizations to address the global climate emergency.

The effort specifically focuses on boosting ambition and accelerating action around carbon capture and storage technologies to hold the increase of global warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, within the next two decades.

Such technologies are already commercially available and can do some pretty amazing stuff with the carbon they suck out of the atmosphere, including using it in greenhouses to boost plant growth to turn the CO2 into the limestone that can be used in construction.

While such solutions are essential to prevent a climate change disaster, it is also vital we make sure to allocate the necessary resources to address the problem at its source.
