Of all the industries that are pushing to become more environmentally friendly, the airline industry has been one of the least active. That may soon change after one of Europe’s largest airlines, EasyJet, announced that it wants to build and operate electric-powered planes within the next decade. For many, that sounds too ambitious considering that jet fuel is currently about 60 times more efficient at storing energy than batteries are. On the other hand, a NASA scientist says there are still many ways for engineers to push the limits of battery technology. See here whether its possible for electric airplanes to be in the skies within the next decade.
