Today’s Solutions: April 20, 2026

Offshore wind has been shattering cost reduction goals recently, but due to the complications of developing wind energy in harsh offshore conditions, it’s still significantly more expensive than onshore wind. That’s why it was so remarkable when several bidders came forth to purchase the rights to develop a wind farm off the coast of the Netherlands without a subsidy. This goes to show that renewable energy is nearing the point where it can stand up on itself without needing subsidies as a crutch.
