Not only is the waste we produce rapidly increasing, but we are also running out of ways to dispose of it. In January this year, China said it would no longer process the millions of tons of “foreign garbage” shipped to it each year by the West. Fortunately, there are already organizations who have found innovative ways of recycling waste that the rest of the world can learn from. One research firm from the Netherlands is utilizing used diapers to make everyday items such as plastic benches and bottle tops. Another company is using stale bread that would otherwise be wasted to make tasty beers.
