The plummeting price of renewable energy has led to a massive increase in clean energy capacity around the world. In fact, China is expected to become the first major country where renewables become the dominant source of energy in 2022. Spain and the United Arab Emirates are expected to reach grid parity just two years later, followed by Germany, the UK, Denmark and the USA. These estimates are even considered too long by some. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) recently said that clean energy sources will be cheaper than fossil fuels by 2020.
