Biking is in the blood of the Dutch. To make peoples’ biking experience better during the winter months, a “cycle highway” has been constructed in the eastern part of the Netherlands that will be kept warm by residual heat from a local plant. That heat, which would have otherwise been wasted, will work to keep the bike path snow-free, meaning that city workers won’t have to spread salt on it to keep it from freezing.
