Climate change commitment is quickly becoming a more prominent factor that citizens consider when voting for officials. In the recent US elections held at the municipal level, six mayors facing re-election battles within America’s 100 largest cities showed their commitment to the environment by signing the Global Covenant of Mayors of Climate and Energy. Of those six mayors, each one emerged victorious. This follows a wider trend which shows that the last 15 mayors to sign the covenant have won re-election in the past two years.
