After carefully investigating the main causes behind the drastic decline in global bee populations, researchers have finally managed to wrap their head around why the pollinators have become so vulnerable to pesticides in recent years. The study has unveiled that the main problem is actually tiny parasitic arachnids, which were thought to only suck the blood out of the honey bees and move on. However, the new findings show these parasites are also feeding on a vital organ in the honeybee. Now the hope is these new findings will lead to the creation of new methods for reducing parasite levels.
