Electric vehicles have several advantages over vehicles with diesel or petrol-driven motors, but having to plug them in every day isn’t one of them. The good news is that soon EV drivers might not need to worry about that as companies are working on making wireless charging a reality. WiTricity, a big player in the wireless EV game, recently made a deal with its main competitor to speed up the process of commercializing this state-of-the-art technology, which is basically a charging pad that can be installed in the ground and provides energy to any car parked above it. This technology could be especially pertinent when self-driving cars become prominent as they could drive themselves to the nearest wireless charging station to fill up after dropping their passengers off.
