Today’s Solutions: December 18, 2025

Many companies are looking for better ways to package our must-have water, but these alternatives often include metal, plastic or glass that needs to be separated eventually at the recycling stage. That’s why a company by the name of Cove has created a water bottle that sidesteps the recycling process altogether. Although it looks, feels and functions like regular plastic, the Cove water bottle is made from naturally occurring biopolymers that are biodegradable and compostable. These bottles break down into carbon dioxide, water, and organic waste after being tossed in the compost or hauled to the landfill. They will even break down in the soil or the ocean with zero toxic byproducts. To make the bottles more sustainable, the company will only source water locally in the regions where the bottles are being sold. As we all know, people find it much easier to participate in sparing the planet when it is easy, and there is nothing easier than grabbing a bottle made from compostable biopolymers rather than one made using petroleum-based plastic.
