Today’s Solutions: December 15, 2025

Hundreds of millions of people in India depend on farming for their livelihoods, but widespread droughts in recent years mean they often struggle to find enough water for their fields. Right now, rural farmers have to rely on diesel pumps to access groundwater for irrigation, but many of them can’t afford to pay for the expensive fuel required to run these pump.

Luckily, a company called Khethworks has engineered a solar solution to the problem. The company has developed a solar-driven pumping system that allows farmers to water their crops without depending on seasonal rains or expensive fuel.

And while Khethworks is not a cheap option, it is more affordable in the long run because farmers do not have to keep paying for fuel. What’s more, the company is also working together with NGOs to help farmers micro-finance the equipment over time.
