Today’s Solutions: April 28, 2024

If you’ve ever had the experience of teaching an elderly relative how to use their smartphone, you may be familiar with some of the frustrations of working with a different generation. Although different generations of workers may bring different approaches, ideas, and strategies to the workspace, this difference in skill sets and knowledge brings far more advantages to the table than drawbacks.

Older workers can provide valuable insights that only experience can give, while older workers can learn new industry tricks and a fresh perspective from younger peers.

As shared on the website ThriveGlobal, one worker wrote, “I recently had a profound sense of insight into new ways of growing my business while working with a very accomplished and thoughtful Gen Z client. Our conversation left me curious and compelled to explore new revenue models. It opened my eyes to strategies I hadn’t considered in the past.”

Whether you’re new to the workforce or an experienced professional, the mentorship, personal relationships, and innovative strategies earned from a cross-generational workforce is priceless. This week at work, consider reaching out to a peer from a different generation and experience the benefits of collaboration outside your age group.
