Monika Dugar’s Reset clothing collection features catchy striped designs, but they aren’t just for aesthetics. Rather, they are meant to increase mobility in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. The clothing works to “reset” the brain with a graphic print which improves mobility through visual cues.

Dugar, a recent graduate from London College of Fashion, was inspired to pioneer the project after her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The line is based on research published in the Journal of Neurology which found a connection between visual perception and mobility.

In addition to the medically beneficial optical illusion of the moving pattern, the clothing features easy to wear elements such as magnetic flies instead of zippers and velcro fastenings which are helpful for people who have difficulty dressing in traditional clothing.

This innovative and beneficial design is helpful for individuals with Parkinson’s specifically, but Dugar hopes the modern style will appeal to people of all ages and abilities. On a broader scale, the Reset line is good news for the future of fashion as it marks an important example of making clothing more available and inclusive to customers with a range of abilities.
