The Jamaican bobsleigh team is used to training without snow, but COVID-19 has added another complication to their training schedule: no gyms. Team members and winter 2022 Olympic hopefuls Shanwayne Stephens and Nimroy Turgott were inspired by the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics men’s bobsleigh team to get creative with their training and have started pushing a car around the streets of Peterborough, England to stay at the top of their game.

The car in question is a two-door mini cooper, small by vehicle standards, but by no means easy to push around. Stephens and Turgott say they get some funny looks pushing it around town. Many people think their car has broken down and offer to help jump start it.

Turgott joined Stephens in England with the intention of training all summer, but he has not let the closure of exercise facilities tarnish their goals. “If you’re able to do the same sort of training without the same equipment, then you should be able to achieve more with the right equipment,” he said.
