Today’s Solutions: December 05, 2025

We recently discussed the benefits of an all electric home, including lower costs, reduced emissions, and better air quality. In a timely turn of events, the city of Ojai, California has banned gas in all new buildings with the exception of restaurants and pools.

The city had already banned the use of gas-powered landscaping equipment earlier this year. Michelle Ellison, Chair of the City’s Climate Emergency Mobilization Committee told KCLU this is Ojai’s effort to lead by example when it comes to clean energy. “It’s better for indoor air-quality and also helps with the climate impact related to carbon and methane emissions from gas,” she said.

This is the latest in a wave of bans on gas in new construction projects. Berkeley and San Jose in California as well as Brookline in Massachusetts have taken similar steps.
