Today’s Solutions: August 03, 2026

We all strive to live more sustainable lives, but tracking where you can make the most impactful changes isn’t always easy. Fortunately, a new app is here to manage your personal carbon footprint in real-time.

The app, called Joro, starts off with baseline questions about your diet, transportation, and lifestyle habits. Then, you can hook the app up to your credit or debit card and it will estimate the carbon emissions from your purchases throughout the day. For example, if you spend $100 at the grocery store and eat red meat twice a week, the app can estimate the carbon impact of your grocery cart. Other purchases, like plane tickets and gasoline, have more self-explanatory eco impacts.

The start-up’s founder, Sanchali Pal, was inspired to launch the app after struggling to narrow down the most impactful carbon choices in her own life.

In early funding, the app has raised $2.5 million in a seed round led by Sequoia Capital. So far, early users have successfully cut their personal emissions by an average of 10 percent. Pal explains to FastCompany that if everyone cut their personal emissions by this amount, it would be equivalent to removing half the world’s cars from the road!
