Today’s Solutions: May 03, 2026

Welcome to World Unity Week! We’re collaborating with other change-making organizations around the world to promote healing, community, and discussion. Each day, we will be featuring one of the many great events happening this week, and we encourage you to head over to the World Unity Week website to learn more.

Today, we’re featuring a panel discussion with Mexicana and Indigenous women speaking about breaking the silence of sexual abuse and showing pathways to post-traumatic healing and growth.

The panel is hosted by Dr. Anita Sanchez, author of Four Sacred Gifts: Indigenous Wisdom for Modern Times and the panelists include Cynthia Ruiz, Jennie Estrada, Gabriela Torres, and Suki Eaton, co-authors of the book, Yo Tambien – Stories of Healing and Hope.

Violence against women is on the rise in Mexico and the country saw a ten percent increase in femicide from 2018 to 2019. Often exacerbated by machismo culture, violence against women is often underreported in Mexico, but this panel will discuss the power of elevating the voices of the abused and sharing stories to break cycles of violence.

The panel begins at 4:00 pm EDT and a link to view it can be found on the schedule page below.
