LED lighting has become an essential part of reducing energy usage around the world but its adoption hasn’t been all too fast considering the costs associated with the material and the quality. That’s all set to change however as researchers from Florida State University have created new LED lights using a new class of materials to maximize efficiency and brightness while lowering the cost of production. Instead of the commonly used materials of gallium arsenide and gallium phosphide, these new LED lights use perovskite minerals, making their infrastructure less complex and easier to produce. Cheap, high-performing LEDs, now that’s something everyone will go after.
