In a move to tackle corruption, India demonetized the country’s high-value banknotes last year. The measure forced Indians to embrace mobile-based cashless payment systems in a big way. As a result, India now has the opportunity to leapfrog to a modern digital payment society. To succeed India has to overcome the challenge of poor connectivity in many poor parts of the country.
