What was once the point of extraction for crude oil will soon be the place for capturing solar energy. Google is investing $145 million in building a solar field in California that will be made up of 250,000 SunEdison solar panels. The solar arrays will provide power to 10,000 homes and create 650 jobs. This is Google’s 17th investment in renewable energy projects and has committed $1.5 billion to fund similar projects around the US.
