While renewables are beginning to make a dent into the carbon intensity of the power sector thanks to the plummeting price of technology, the automobile industry has been exploring green fuels so as to lower its dependency on fossil fuels. Audi has been pushing the envelope, exploring ways to create a carbon-neutral fuel. The German car manufacturer has successfully synthetized a new diesel using just CO2, water and electricity from renewable energy sources. The German Education minister was able to pump e-Diesel into her official car and drive off. Audi’s next step is to improve the manufacturing process to produce it at scale. We’re still looking for the catch.
