Today’s Solutions: December 18, 2025

The U.S. Supreme Court made the imprudent decision to put the Clean Power Plan on hold, but the decision won’t be enough to save coal from a shrinking market. The Environmental Protection Agency projected that coal’s share of America’s power mix would shrink to 27% by 2030 under the plan, and indications show that this decision won’t change that as the electric sector continues to shift away from fossil fuels towards renewables. One of the main arguments against renewables has been that it will take jobs away, especially from the coal mining industry, but that has also been completely disproven with a new report that shows the solar industry is the fastest growing industry in the U.S, employing slightly over 200,000 workers. This year expects to see a 15% expansion in the solar industry, meaning renewables and jobs in the industry will only increase as coal continues its decline.
