So it’s remarkable that the new mayor of Turin, at the center of the Piedmont region that is home to many famous meat producers, has pledged to promote vegetarian and vegan diets as a “priority” in her administration. The mayor has said that meat-free and even dairy-free living is fundamental to the protection of the environment, health, and the wellbeing of animals. Turin is going to set up educational projects in schools to teach students about animal welfare and nutrition.
