Digital platforms are making it easier and more efficient for working people across Africa to engage in flexible jobs like ride-share services, e-commerce sellers, or stay-home hosts. In fact, flexible jobs have become so popular in many African countries that the gig economy could just be called “the economy.” For example, just 17 percent of Kenyan employment is formal, full-time work.
