The Dutch city of Utrecht is not only a Mecca for cyclists, as we wrote about on Monday. As it turns out, it’s also a haven for bees.

What the city has done is transform their bus stops into bee stops, with 316 bus stops around the city now having a green roof full of flowers. The tops of the bus stops look beautiful, helping capture fine dust, store rainwater and provided cooling the summertime. Plus, they give bees an extra place to get food and rest. Another great thing is that the municipal workers who take care of the roofs drive from stop to stop in electric vehicles.

When it comes to fantastic urban design, cities can definitely learn a thing or two from the city of Utrecht.
