If you’re a lover of the environment and classic cars, there is good news for you! Volkswagen debuted a new electric version of their classic Beetle at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany. Featuring the same nostalgia-inducing look of the original Beetle, the new version, which they have named the e-Beetle, can reach 150 km per hour and has a range of 200 km per charge.

Volkswagen is not alone in ushering classic cars into the age of renewables. Jaguar also announced last year it would be creating an electric version of its E-type model. Thomas Schmall, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group Components says, The electrified Beetle combines the charm of our classic car with the mobility of the future.”

Although it is unclear when these vehicles will hit the market, it is certainly exciting news for VW bug lovers and proves that even old classics can take part in the green revolution.
