Today’s Solutions: February 22, 2026

The Kincade, Tick, and Getty wildfires burning in the state of California right now have forced thousands of people to evacuate and have caused several power shutoffs. In fact, the Kincade Fire alone has displaced almost 200,000 people over an estimated 50,000 acres.

To provide some relief for some evacuees, Airbnb is deploying its Open Homes program that allows displaced people and relief workers to find free accommodation. Airbnb is encouraging homeowners in Santa Clarita, Sonoma County, and the surrounding areas to participate by listing their homes for $0 on the site. Current hosts may also choose one of their existing listings or create a new one to support the cause. Once hosts opt into the program, their home appears available on the Open Homes booking tool to all those from the affected area. Evacuees may then reach out to the host directly.

As these wildfires create dire times in California, it’s encouraging to see companies do their part in helping those in need.
