If action expresses priority, then the city of Shenzhen has clearly shown where its priorities lie. By the end of 2017, the city of nearly 12 million residents will have entirely electrified its bus fleet of more than 14,000 vehicles. What’s more, switching to electric buses will cut a significant source of smog, which is significantly impacting the output of Chinese solar. By electrifying bus fleets, the share of renewables available for use could actually increase.
