Hacker, dissident, and app pitchman Edward Snowden has created an app that can help you figure out if your home or laptop has been violated. All it takes is an extra Android phone. The app works by taking advantage of the capabilities of the phone, turning it into a multifaceted tripwire for potential thieves. The phone can hear noise through its microphone, sense movement on its accelerometer, sense change in room brightness with its light sensor, and detect if it’s being unplugged. Once the phone detects these changes, it alerts the owner of the phone of potential thieves through encrypted text notifications, sounds, and images.
