To reduce the waste that comes with single-use cups, a startup has created a service similar to that of a bikeshare program, where you don’t pay to own a bike, but pay per ride. The idea is simple; When you order a coffee, you receive it in a special cup with a chip built into it. Then when you’re done with it, you place it in one of the drop points where they can be collected, washed, and reused an estimated 132 times. The customer gets the convenience of a takeaway cup without the waste the comes with that convenience. The concept is fitting for university campuses or office buildings.
