Electric plugs aren’t the only way to charge electric cars. In fact, young engineers have come up with wireless charging panels that can provide power to an electric car parked above it. Even if there are nearly six inches of empty space between the charger and the car, power can be transmitted through an electromagnetic field. The implications of such a charger are as huge as suburban driveways, public spaces, parking lots, and interstate rest stops could all be tricked out with wireless ports to serve the tens of millions of electric cars that are expected to hit the roads in the coming two decades.
