Small efforts may seem insignificant when trying to help solve grand-scale problems, but by looking at the lives of honeybees we can see that’s not the case. In her entire lifetime, a bee produces only 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey – a tiny fraction of the hundred pounds of the sweet nectar a typical colony needs to survive. The tiny pollinator won’t directly benefit from the honey she makes, however, it will allow future generations to thrive after she is gone. Thus, when trying to change the world, we shouldn’t worry about the size of our contributions, instead, we should let our efforts join the actions of others.
