When a loved one becomes seriously ill or injured, people often have to take time off from work to either take care of them or to find their loved one a health center where caregivers can look after them. You can imagine the stress that comes with this, not to mention the costs of having to take leave from work along with the hefty expenses that come with providing care to unwell relatives. That’s why a number of companies like Best Buy and Dell have started a benefit for its employees that didn’t exist before access to services that provide short-term caregiving. Basically, what these services do is help people find the perfect rehabilitation centers for their loved ones based on very specific criteria. Instead of having to visit each center and crossing them off a list, these services do the work on behalf of the employees with ill relatives—saving both time and stress for both employees and companies. One financial company who subscribes to a caregiving service reported that it saved about $400,000 in cost offsets. Most importantly though, such services provide employees with the emotional support they need.
