More than 40 million birds have vanished from the UK skies in just 50 years, 56 species are currently in decline, and one in ten of UK’s wildlife are critically endangered. However, only 15 percent of people in the UK realize that nature is in crisis, and even more worryingly, over a quarter of the population believe nature is, in fact, doing well. In an attempt to raise awareness about the wildlife crisis that’s pushing many UK birds towards the brink of extinction, the country’s Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has released a track composed entirely of birdsong into the country’s singles chart. The song, called ‘Let Nature Sing’, and charting now at No. 11, features 25 of the UK’s best-loved or most threatened birds among its guest vocalists, including the common blackbird and robin, and the engendered nightingale and bittern.
