It’s never too late to learn something new! If you don’t believe us, then you have to read this story about Joyce Lowenstein, an unlikely graduate of Georgia State University.

Lowenstein’s pursuit of a degree began in 1943, but it was interrupted for nearly 70 years after becoming a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother, as well as being an antique dealer and interior designer. In 2012, Lowenstein felt she needed to complete one unfinished task and re-enrolled in school to get an art history degree. Her quest for a degree included some ailments and a foggy memory at some points, but after seven years, she graduated at the ripe age of 93. And not only did she graduate, but she also finished with a grade-point average slightly above a 4.0.

Finishing with such a high average wasn’t easy. Lowenstein never learned how to type, so she needed help from her friend to transcribe lectures. She recorded lectures on her iPad, learned how to do a PowerPoint presentation, and had to turn down some social activities so she could focus on studying. Despite the difficulties, Lowenstein managed to graduate at the age of 93, showing us all that you’re never too old to learn something new.
