Kentucky Fried Chicken: The name of this famous fast-food chain implies that its main thing is serving up chicken. But with the demands of consumers have changed, KFC is diverting from its foundations and jumping on the plant-based bandwagon.

That’s right, soon enough KFC will be serving the first ever vegan fried “chicken” burger. Named the Imposter Burger, the vegan version of the fried chicken chain’s Original Recipe Fillet Burger will be made from a “bespoke” Quorn fillet, coated in the Colonel’s Original Recipe herbs and spices. The Imposter Burger will also contain a respectable 18.8g protein, which although less than the 29.7g of its chicken counterpart, is a decent amount for a vegan patty.

The burger is a world-first for the American fast food chain and is currently only going to be available in select KFC stores in the U.K. for a four-week trial run. If successful, it could become a staple on menus in America. With KFC introducing its own plant-based burger, it seems the rise of faux-meat options can’t be stopped.
