Today’s Solutions: May 08, 2024

Yesterday we shared a story about how college voter turnout doubled between 2014 and 2018, but in light of yesterday’s National Voter Registration Day, we are here to remind you that everyone’s voice should be heard on election day! Voter Registration Day was established in 2012 to encourage more individuals to participate in the democratic process.

Companies like Google and Facebook launched voter registration awareness campaigns this week and volunteers mobilized yesterday to reach out to as many unregistered eligible voters as possible. And the effort paid off! In 2018, National Voter Registration Day registered 800,000 new voters across the U.S. Although only 37 states allow you to register to vote online, you can check if you’re registered here and if not, find out how you can get your voter registration card before November. We at the Optimist Daily advocate for your participation in the democratic process and encourage you to register to vote to express your voice on the issues and candidates that matter to you!
