Bon Appétit is a go-to for creative and delicious kitchen ideas from zesty recipes to culinary tricks. The food publication has a distinctive environmental flair and we have shared their stories about composting in the past. This year, the company is taking another big step towards becoming more green and has released ten ways in which it plans to become more sustainable in 2020.

In line with plant-based diet trends, 30% of Bon Appétit’s new recipes will be meat-free to encourage diets with a lower impact on the Earth. The company has also pledged to encourage readers to cut down on common kitchen waste such as plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and plastic bags. Instead, it hopes to encourage readers to embrace reusable containers, cutlery, and bags.

Bon Appétit has also pledged to compost all scraps from their Test Kitchen. When you take into account that their office space is in the middle of metropolitan New York, this is a big step. The company is showing that composting is attainable, no matter where you live.

A few weeks ago we talked about Just Capital and corporate influence on environmental causes. We at the Optimist Daily like to showcase companies that are taking initiative and instituting greener habits. We know that no corporation is perfect, but initiatives like this one can make a difference in a company’s impact and their influence on customers and corporate peers.
