Today’s Solutions: April 30, 2024

Every year, the non-profit Climate Group invites businesses, governments, academic institutions, and civil society to participate in Climate Week NYC, a week-long events program encouraging discussions around climate solutions and showcasing amazing climate action from around the world. The best thing about it, you take part in all of its curated events.

Adapting to current circumstances, this year’s program will be held virtually from September 21st to 27th and will be the largest climate conference of 2020. All of the events, as well as highlights from more than 350 events taking place in NYC and around the world, will be available for you to watch on the Climate Group’s Facebook page.

You can also find the calendar with all the events here, but to make it easier for you, EcoWatch has curated five free Climate Week NYC events that you can participate in from the comfort of your couch:

1. Play for the Planet: Calling on musicians and performing artists to use their platform for addressing climate change, ClimateMusic is asking those interested to send them their answers to short interview questions such as “What do you want the future to sound like?”. The responses, accompanied by a short performance from each participant, will appear in a series of testimonials on the organization’s website. All week.

2. Chance of a Lifetime? How Governments and Businesses are Achieving a Green Economic Recovery: By joining this event, you can hear from business and government representatives about how we can recover from the coronavirus pandemic in a way that halves greenhouse gas emissions in the next 10 years. You can join the event by going to the Climate Group’s Facebook Watch page. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 9:45 – 11:25 a.m.

3. Expressing Climate Grief: If you are overwhelmed by the climate emergency, Sustaining All Life and United to End Racism are organizing a digital workshop to help you heal the negative emotions associated with the climate crisis, as well as help you participate in addressing climate change without burning out. You can register hereWednesday, Sept. 23, 1 – 2:30 p.m.

4. Climate Insights 2020: Climate Change and the American Voter: With the November election less than two months away, learn whether climate change is at the top of American voters’ priorities. This event will host a panel of experts discussing the latest results of a survey assessing the priorities of US voters. RSVP hereThursday, Sept. 24, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

5. Climate Justice and Resilience: Farmers and Communities on the Front Lines: Hosted by the Rainforest Alliance, this virtual global event will convene a diverse set of leaders to discuss how governments and corporations can best support rural farmers and Indigenous communities on the front lines of the climate crisis.
