Today’s Solutions: June 23, 2026

The adoption of electric vehicles might get a boost next year as giant automaker Toyota is expected to introduce an electric car with a 310 miles range and a rapid recharge from zero to full in 10 minutes.

With range anxiety and recharge time being among the main reasons preventing drivers from switching to electric, Toyota’s EV is expected to be a game-changer.

“The technology is a potential cure-all for the drawbacks facing electric vehicles that run on conventional lithium-ion batteries, including the relatively short distance traveled on a single charge as well as charging times. Toyota plans to be the first company to sell an electric vehicle equipped with a solid-state battery in the early 2020s.” states a new report released by Nikkei Asia.

Solid-state batteries have many advantages over traditional batteries, including being a lot safer and having more potential for higher energy density — the amount of energy a battery can deliver relative to its weight.

These batteries, however, are much more expensive to manufacture, which is why they haven’t been mass-produced yet. It seems, though, that may soon change thanks to Toyota.
