You’ve probably heard that it’s bad to multitask, but the reality is that we all sometimes need to engage in this pesky habit. Fortunately, there are a few strategies you can use to make the most of your multitasking if it’s inevitable.

Group together similar tasks

Different parts of the brain tackle different tasks, so if you have to multitask, it’s better to group similar tasks together.

Determine a focal point

What task would you do if you could just do one? Or if you just got back from being away from the office for a week? Setting priorities can help you determine where to focus your energy.

Actually limit distractions

Sometimes you have to listen to a work call while making yourself lunch, but you shouldn’t also try to check social media at the same time. Completely put away your phone, turn off the television, and simply use noise cancelling headphones rather than listening to music.
