The top food and drink companies of the world have promised to halve the food they waste by 2025. Multinationals like Unilever, Pepsico and General Mills made this promise at the global summit of the Consumer Goods Forum, a network of about 400 companies in the consumer goods industry. The Forum will set up a mechanism to help all companies try and cut food lost during production and shipment to stores, and maximise the use of remaining waste. Industry leaders, such as retailers Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer from the United Kingdom, will share best practices with the other members to help the group achieve its goal.
